The 2023 Bicycle Plan

This is the year we have finally shaken off the COVID restrictions. I have great plans for enjoying many bike trips and many days of local cycling. I’ve gotten off to a very good start. Below is the plan and a comparison with the previous years.

Among the 2740 miles I’ve accomplished so far have been several great biking events that I want to memorialize in the blog. So some of the entries coming up will be historical. I’m going to try to get these in chronological order, but don’t expect miracles. WordPress is a somewhat challenging site to learn.

Here is the list of 2023 events completed or planned:

  • Feb 3. Escape to Tucson for a self-planned warm weather ride on The Loop
  • Mar 23. Tour de Zona in Buena Vista, AZ.
  • Apr 15. Tarwheel in Elizabeth City, NC.
  • Apr 28. Cycle North Carolina Coastal Ride in Oriental, NC.
  • May 6. Six Pillars of Character in Cambridge, MD.
  • May 20. Tour de Vignes in Lodi, CA.
  • May 26. Horsey Hundred in Georgetown, KY.
  • Jun 3. Wheels for Meals in Milton, DE.
  • Jun 10. Lebanon Valley Ride in Lebanon, PA.
  • Jun 17. Peninsula Ride in Door County, WI.
  • Jun 23. Bike Virginia in Stanton, VA.
  • July 4-9. Backroads: Acadia & Maine Bike Tour in Acadia National Park (Maine).

Let me make a comment on WordPress. There are two WordPress ecosystems. There is the paid WordPress where we are right now. And, there is the unpaid, advertisement-supported WordPress. The latter is the system that all the guidebooks are written about. Unbeknownst to me when I started, from the point of view of a content creator, they use very different protocols, terminologies, features, and programming methods. Ah well, at least this keeps me from spending hours scrolling through useless clickbait!

Ah, well, away we go. Here’s a picture from Lodi, CA’s Tour de Vignes.
